Istanbul, Antalya airports witness surge in daily passenger counts

(MENAFN) Istanbul Airport and Antalya Airport, a key gateway to the Turkish Riviera, both recorded their highest daily passenger numbers ever during the weekend of July 26-27, as reported by the Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Ministry.

On July 27, Istanbul Airport handled 272,132 passengers, marking the busiest single day in the airport’s history and setting a new record across Europe, according to Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu. Meanwhile, Antalya Airport surpassed its previous peak on July 26 by welcoming 225,118 passengers. Of these, 203,348 traveled on international flights, while 21,770 were on domestic routes.

Antalya’s earlier highest daily passenger count was 223,217 on August 3, 2024. The ministry’s statement also highlighted that on that record-setting day, the airport managed approximately 1,074 international flights and 143 domestic flights—the highest volume of aircraft operations recorded at the hub to date.
